Phonecoach Mandy Stephens KITC Client

I would like to thank you, Faisal, Damien, James and the rest of the team for the hard work and support that you have given over the months for our new, unique product. We felt that the team understood our requirements and managed the project very well, keeping us informed at all stages, and have put in huge amounts of effort to get the product ready on time. We will be testing it out in the next few weeks and it will then be in full production! I look forward to meeting up with you and Faisal again in the Autumn to discuss further projects. Very best wishes.

Shirley Au
CO650 KITC Consultant at Medway:

I started working for the KITC in September 2009. Since being at the KITC I enjoyed working as part of a team with the other consultants because we can share our knowledge and all grow as a result. I learnt many different skills such as time management; teamwork; allocating resources; leadership and presentation skills. During the first term I was involved with 3 different projects and my favourite project was Quality Assurance as I learnt a lot of skills from being the project lead for this internal project. Overall the KITC provides a great opportunity for future jobs and I have gained real-life experience of working for a UK company whilst still at University.

Ed Plant
MSc Student:

I chose to complete an MSc in IT Consultancy and work for the KITC to gain some real-life experience in IT Consultancy to improve my chances of finding a graduate position at a high-profile IT Company. For me, the greatest benefit of KITC work has been the responsibility of project management, which means struggling to deliver the project on time and within budget; ensuring the client is satisfied and kept informed of all progress; checking that the team is comfortable with, and delivers, the tasks they are assigned. However, I m also heavily involved in the technical side of the projects I m working on. For example, one of my projects has had me working in a small team, finding and fixing bugs in a fairly complicated Java and J2ME application; for another project, I m responsible for setting up a new secure Linux server for the KITC s own infrastructure. I love the work here and am confident that, when I am interviewed for IT Consultancy jobs in the coming months, the KITC will have provided me with plenty of relevant experience and demonstrable skills upon which to draw.

Jav Miah CO645 KITC Consultant at Canterbury:

I worked for the KITC during my 2nd year at University doing the 15 credit CO645 module and this made me want to complete another 15 credit module during my final year. I enjoyed the good work-life balance that the KITC provided and the balance between work and social activities is very good within the clinic. My written and verbal communication skills improved a great deal from working for the clinic. Moreover, my knowledge of web design improved a great deal. I was involved in 3 different projects; one of which is being the Laptop Repair project lead. This was a very fulfilling role and as a result of my work being implemented I was able to generate more revenue for the clinic with fewer personnel and less repairs being carried out compared to last year. Dealing with real clients with real problems and providing the solutions to these problems which often involve many different skill sets is a very good asset to have on our CV s.
